Introduction
- This Privacy Policy explains how the ScanIt mobile application (the “App”) collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the App.
Permissions and Data Access
- The App requests access to your device camera (
android.permission.CAMERA) only. - Camera access is required solely to scan QR codes and barcodes. The App does not access contacts, location, microphone, or other sensitive data unless explicitly stated.
Purpose of Use
- Camera data is used in real time to capture frames for decoding QR codes and barcodes and to present the scan results to the user.
- The App does not use the camera for tracking, continuous background recording, or surveillance.
Image and Data Storage
- By default, the App does not store camera images or video after a scan completes.
- If you explicitly choose a “Save Image” or similar option, the image will be stored locally on your device only.
- Scan results (e.g., decoded text, URLs) may be stored locally on the device as a scan history to let you view past scans. These records are not shared externally by default.
Third-Party Services
- If the App uses third-party services (for example, to preview a URL, shorten links, or fetch metadata), those services may process the scanned data according to their own privacy policies. We will disclose any third-party services used in the App settings or documentation when applicable.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
- We will only share data if required by law, to comply with a legal process, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
Security
- We implement reasonable measures to protect data stored locally on the device.
- No method of data transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
- The App is not intended for children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided personal data, contact us to request deletion.
Policy Changes
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on the published policy page and, where appropriate, communicated via the App.
